COACHES, CLUBS & SCHOOL GROUPS
The Gulgong Gold Experience is open to the public between 1pm and 3pm wednesday to sunday and group visits are encouraged to book if wanting to visit outside of these hours. We are happy to discuss a time to suit your group; our contact number for group bookings is 0418 541 998.
To accommodate the larger groups we set up the Information Hub in a theatre format where we introduce our visitors to Gulgong with a short video and then invite them to explore our facility and the tranquil Red Hill area at their leisure.
The time required to comfortably navigate a group through the Gulgong Gold Experience would be at least 1 1/2 hrs. In this time you will take in the overall history of the Gulgong gold rush in the form of a video and get an insight into the Holtermann Collection of photos with the audio display at the entrance. Visitors will also have the opportunity to read further information on the detailed information boards.
Our volunteers are willing to demonstrate panning to any visitors interested. For an extra fee of $5 per person, and if time permits, visitors can purchase a panning activity bag which includes the hire of a pan for some fun at the troughs. This activity gives visitors a chance to learn the skills of panning and to take home as a souvenir.
Parking is no problem as there is a good parking area for coaches, caravans and cars. We suggest that larger vehicles use the White Street approach via Herbert Street. The preferred approach from Mudgee would be via Castlereigh Highway , right turn into Herbert Street, turn right into White Street and right turn into Tom Saunders Avenue, the Gulgong Gold Experience is approximately 200 metre’s on the right.
The entrance to the Hub is all on one level which makes access easy for our disabled visitors within the facility; the Hill activities may require a little more effort for the disabled as it has a gentle gradient the pathways are smooth so walkers can be used.
